Carbon Reduction Shetland  Launches Carbon Portal

Carbon Reduction Shetland has today launched a Carbon Reduction Portal - a virtual one stop shop for information on the various organisations which can help us all reduce our energy consumption and carbon footprint.

The portal was created through the islands’ Energy and Carbon Management Group, which includes representatives of Shetland Islands Council, Community Energy Scotland, Energy Saving Scotland, Changeworks, Hjaltland Housing Association and Shetland Amenity Trust. The group identified the need for a single information point where people could go to find out how these organisations could help them save energy, and money.  With a remit of reducing Shetland’s carbon footprint, Carbon Reduction Shetland was the obvious choice to host the portal.

Brian Gregson, Chairman of Shetland Amenity Trust, said: “This portal will make it easier for the public to access information and assistance in reducing their energy consumption and carbon footprint.  The organisations on the portal can assist householders, community groups, businesses and individuals to access grants and advice, making everyone more sustainable.  Together we can work towards a low carbon Shetland, and this portal is a wonderful step in that direction.”

The portal can be accessed at: www.carbonreductionshetland.org/portal.html
