Community Council By-Elections – Close of Nominations
Following the close of nominations at 4 p.m. yesterday, the Returning Officer for Community Council Elections in Shetland can advise that of the 49 vacancies remaining to be filled at by-elections, 22 candidates submitted their nomination forms and will be returned uncontested on 17 March 2011.
Nominations for four Wards (Aithsting, Boddam, Skerries and Tingwall) have exceeded the number of vacancies and these will proceed to a postal ballot, subject to any withdrawal of candidates by 4 p.m. on Thursday 3 February.
After the period for withdrawal of candidature, formal Notices will be publicised on Friday 4 February 2011.
