Very Good Education Provided by Cullivoe Primary School
An inspector from HMIe visited Cullivoe Primary School June 2010. He described four quality indicators: improvements in performance; learners’ experiences; meeting learning needs and the school’s curriculum as very good. Improvement through self-evaluation was described as good.
The inspector identified the particular strengths of the school as:
- Friendly, well-behaved children with a positive attitude to their learning.
- Supportive and encouraging climate for learning.
- Staff engagement in taking forward Curriculum for Excellence
- Rich opportunities provided for children to learn through practical activities and first-hand experiences.
- Head Teacher’s leadership for learning and the strong sense of teamwork quickly established among staff.
There were only one area for improvement noted, this was that the school should develop further its’ approaches to self-evaluation.
Councillor Leslie Angus said ‘I'm delighted that Culllivoe Primary School's rich opportunities for learning have been recognised by the Inspectorate. The report's high praise for the head teacher and the children reflects great credit on all involved in this healthy educational environment.’
