Press Release
Where will you be on Election Day?
Voters have just a few days left to make sure they can have their say in the General Election on May 6.
If you’re not going to be in Shetland on May 6, you can apply for a postal vote or a proxy vote - where someone you trust votes on your behalf on polling day – but you must apply before 5pm on Tuesday 20th April.
You may be going away on business, on holiday or just have other commitments that day which mean you can’t get to your local polling station between 7am and 10 pm on May 6. Don’t miss having your say on who represents you in the UK Parliament – postal and proxy votes are easy to arrange and it only takes a few minutes.
Just contact the Electoral Registration Office at Commercial Road, Lerwick, Shetland. Telephone (01595) 745700 or e-mail: ero@shetland.gov.uk.
Applications for a postal or proxy vote will need to reach the Electoral Registration Office by 5pm on Tuesday 20th April.
This is also the deadline for making sure you are registered to vote.
