Communications strategy agreed by Council
Shetland Islands Council agreed the new Communications strategy at Wednesday’s meeting (6 July).
Over the past six months the Communications Unit has consulted staff, management, councillors, the general public, organisation the Council works with, community councils, trade unions and the local media. They received almost 500 responses, giving a huge variety of comment. These formed the foundations of the Communications strategy.
Communicating is vital to the way the Council works. Staff and councillors need to talk to each other and to the public. Good communications are:
- a vital part of providing effective services;
- essential to the Council’s relations with communities, service users, and businesses; and
- crucial to staff morale.
You can read the strategy here.
The Communications strategy carries the Plain English Campaign’s Crystal Mark, their seal of approval for clarity in a document.
