Shetland Museum & Archives Welcomes its 250,000th Visitor
Since opening in June 2007 Shetland Museum and Archives has welcomed around 85,000 visitors per year and is well established as a top attraction for both visitors to the islands, and locals alike. Staff were recently delighted to receive the 250,000th visitor through the doors.
Local couple Alison and Sydney Sinclair from Lerwick are regular visitors to the Museum and Archives. They often visit to view new exhibitions and to sample the delicious range of fresh local produce prepared in the Hay’s Dock Café Restaurant. On a recent visit Alison was with her husband and she was thrilled to learn that she was the 250,000th visitor since opening.
Cathy Hallet, a Visitor Services Assistant in the Museum and Archives said “We are absolutely delighted for Sydney and Alison as they are regular visitors.”
In recognition of this significant milestone and the fact that they were attending as a couple, Sydney and Alison were invited to the Hay’s Dock Café Restaurant to enjoy a complimentary meal, with champagne. Alison said “I’m really pleased about being the 250,000th visitor. We come here a lot and there is always something different going on and something new to see in the museum, Da Gadderie and the Café Restaurant. It’s such a lovely place to go – it just makes me feel so calm.”
