Blueprint Reports available next week
The Schools Service will be publishing Consultation Reports on the following proposals:
- The proposed closure of Uyeasound Primary School, with pupils being relocated to Baltasound Junior High School.
- The proposed closure of Burravoe Primary School, with pupils being relocated to Mid Yell Junior High School.
- The proposed closure of North Roe Primary School, with pupils being relocated to Ollaberry Primary School or Urafirth Primary School.
- The proposed closure of Sandness Primary School with pupils being relocated to Happyhansel Primary School or Aith Junior High School.
The Consultation Reports will be published on Tuesday 19 April 2011. Executive summaries of each report will be issued alongside the Consultation Reports.
A special meeting of the Services Committee of Shetland Islands Council will be held on Tuesday 10 May 2011. The Services Committee will consider the Consultation Reports and make recommendations to Shetland Islands Council.
A meeting of Shetland Islands Council will then be held on Tuesday 17 May 2011, at which final decisions will be made.
The Consultation Reports will be accessible from Tuesday 19 April 2011 at www.shetland.gov.uk/education/blueprintforeducation.asp. Copies will also be made available for inspection at Hayfield House, the Lerwick Library, and the schools affected by the proposals.
Chair of the Services Committee, Councillor Betty Fullerton said this morning “This is the next stage of the Statutory Consultation process. It will be the duty of all Members to consider the information provided in the Consultation Reports, to ensure informed decisions are made”.
