Tobacco Sales

New laws on the sale and purchase of tobacco

Scottish Tobacco Retailers Register

If you sell cigarettes or any other tobacco product, you must be registered as a tobacco retailer.

From 1st October 2011, selling cigarettes or any other tobacco product without being registered will be a criminal offence.

The Scottish Government holds the register, and there is no requirement to pay a fee.

You can check the public register now to see if your business is listed - if not, then you can register online, download the registration form to fill in and post to the Scottish Government, or phone 0131 244 2169 to get a paper form sent to you.
