Shetland Befriending Scheme
WE ARE LOOKING FOR MORE VOLUNTEERS TO JOIN OUR SCHEME!!
Due to the increase in demand for the Befriending Service we are keen to recruit new volunteers.
Our scheme provides 1 to 1 support to young people and young adults aged between 7 to 25 years, and its about volunteers and clients taking part in a wide range of activities, anything from going for a walk, swimming, canoeing or doing arts and crafts.
The young people and young adults who join our scheme do so for a real variety of reasons. It might be that they have additional support needs such as autism or they may be isolated due to their personal circumstances or wanting support to develop their skills and build their confidence.
It's a lot of fun, challenging and rewarding. Volunteers meet either weekly or fortnightly with the young person or young adult they are matched to for a few hours at a time.
All volunteers will get training, full support and expenses/mileage paid.
