Equality Impact Assessments

Equality Impact Assessments are an important part of the Public Sector’s decision-making process.

The purpose of an Equality Impact Assessment is to take into account equality and socio-economic inequality when making decisions.

When we plan a new proposal, policy or service, or amend an existing one, we consider who might use this service or be affected by this and the barriers and impact they may experience.

Equality Impact Assessments will allow the Council to:

  • Consider the potential impacts through better policy development and evidence based assessments;
  • Meet our legal requirements in terms of Equality and Poverty;
  • Prevent and mitigate against any potential negative impacts through early intervention; and
  • Be more transparent, informative and accountable.

Published Equality Impact Assessments will be available soon.
