This 6-hour course covers the basic rules of netball umpiring using both theory and practical training methods in preparation for the FENA Level 'C' test. Participants will learn how to umpire for school/junior teams and senior matches. The course is aimed at anyone currently playing, or with previous experience of, netball and is open to anyone aged 16 or over. Places are limited and prior registration is essential.
Please note the following details of the optional final assessment:
- The candidate will be assessed umpiring a 30 minute Netball match.
- The candidate will sit a 20 questions true or false paper on the rules of Netball.
- A log sheet of 10 hours worth of umpiring should be completed and approved by the Tester.
- The candidate must pass all of the above to receive their Umpire Certified Card and become an accredited 'C' Umpire.
For any candidates who have attended a previous training course (last run in Shetland in October 2005) and have since accumulated 10 logged hours of umpiring, they may sit their practical assessment during this weekend. It is possible for these candidates to attend both the training day on Saturday, as a refresher, as well as the practical assessment; or to just sit the final assessment.
