Grant Aid

Sport and Leisure Service's Grants Unit administers a number of grant aid schemes designed to support, enhance and develop the contribution that the community and voluntary sector can make to the quality of life for people in Shetland.

This section provides you with information and guidelines on all the current grant aid schemes available and also links to other funding sources and resources that may be of assistance.

Please note demand for the Capital, Maintenance of Community Facilities, and Feasibility and Design grant aid schemes far exceeds the budget available, so groups who intend to apply for funding under any of these schemes must first register their proposed project with the Grants Unit.   To join the waiting list for any of these schemes, please contact your local Community Office.

In addition to issuing grant application forms, staff are available to assist community groups with a range of grant related matters, from advice on external funding opportunities to project planning and completing funding applications.
