Community Learning and Development
The role of Community Learning and Development is to:
- Support community groups to achieve their aims (for example, through helping with constitutions, grant aid, project planning)
- Develop learning opportunities locally that reflect the needs and aspirations of the communities we work with (this could range from working with a committee to develop their skills and understanding of issues that affect them; to helping set up computer classes for a community; to working with communities to develop opportunities for young people)
- Consult with communities about issues that affect them
- Provide up to date information for community groups
Work With Communities
The Community Learning & Development Team is headed up by the Community Work Manager.
There are five area-based Community Learning & Development Officers, who work locally throughout Shetland, and the Adult Literacy Team, based in Lerwick. Please see the links below for more information.
