Smarter
The Government's Smarter strategic objective is to 'expand opportunities for people in Scotland to succeed from nurture through to life long learning ensuring higher and more widely shared achievements'. Shetland Island's Council has THREE local strategic outcomes within the Smarter objective. These have been developed from the Scottish Government National Outcomes 3 & 4.
Smarter Local Outcomes
Sm.1 We provide a person-centred approach to ensuring positive learning pathways for the long-term, focusing on the long-term unemployed, the 18-24 age group, those misusing substances and winter school leavers.
Sm.2 We recognize each person's strenths, building on these to ensure everyone can achieve their potential through learning opportunities that build capactiy, increase confidence and encourage participation and responsible citizenship.
Sm.3 We take a proactive approach to ensuring Shetland's skills match Shetland's economic need.
