Environmental Action Team

Remit

To take an overview of activity across the whole range of environmental issues;

To promote Strategic Environmental Assessment to ensure that environmental cost and impact and risk are considered in all strategic policies and plans;

To promote consensus and co-operation on strategic priorities, to articulate these priorities and to influence activity accordingly;

To influence the agenda of the Council’s Environment forum, bringing environmental issues before it with a view to informing Council policy and action;

To communicate with the Community Planning Board with the aim of promoting and strengthening the environmental aspect of community planning in Shetland;

To develop indicators with which to evaluate the Shetland Community Plan success.
