Safer Shetland Action Line

The Safer Shetland Action Line was launched in August 2005 by the Shetland Community Safety Partnership, to crackdown on crime and nuisance throughout the Isles. Crime and nuisance such as drug dealing, antisocial behaviour, drink-driving, bullying, abandoned cars, litter and dog fouling can affect the whole community, and are being tackled by a variety of agencies.

The Safer Shetland Action Line, spearheaded by the Community Safety Partnership, aims to encourage local people to be the eyes and ears of the neighbourhood by giving them access to an Action Line where they can pass on information concerning crime and nuisance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in complete confidentiality. There is also a text facility and a PO Box address for those who don’t wish to call. The information will then be passed onto the relevant agency to deal with, making a real difference on the ground.
