Interim Planning Policy: Towards Sustainable Construction & Better Design December 2009 Shetland Islands Council have undertaken a review of the Council’s Sustainable Construction Policies currently contained within the Shetland Structure Plan (2000) and the Shetland Local Plan (2004). Having identified the changing objectives, the existing policies were assessed to ensure compliance and in order to identify the areas where policy required amendment or where new policies were necessary. The Towards Sustainable Construction & Better Design in Shetland sets out the broad strategic and detailed policies which will protect the environment from the effects of minerals development. Status: This document contains the latest statement of Council Policy in respect of domestic and community aerogenerators and solar energy and therefore a material consideration for all applications proposing developments of this type. |
This Interim Planning Policy (IPP) has been subject to Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). This Minerals Interim Planning Policy (IPP) has been subject to Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). Reducing Carbon Emissions in New Development September 2008 Contributing at least an extra 15% reduction in CO2 emissions beyond the 2007 Buidling Regulations Carbon Dioxide Emissions Standard Status: Although not itself part of the statutory plan, the interim planning policy and guidance note provides the interpretation of Policy SPENG5 in the light of national guidance issued by the Scottish Government in SPP6. It is the latest statement of Council Policy and is therefore a material consideration for all applications proposing developement where the cumulative total of floor space exceeds 500sq.m. |

Alterations made to Local Plan Policy LPHOU4 which explains the requirements required in all zones for new houses, conversions of a building or bringing a building back into use where it has been abandoned. Status: The latest statement of Council Policy in respect of dwellinghouses and therefore a material consideration for all applications. |
