Instrumental Instruction
Instrumental Instruction has been delivered in Shetland schools since the sixties. It is a discretionary service in Scottish schools, which, up until August 2010 been offered to pupils, in Shetland, free of charge.
The charge for Instrumental Instruction, which was introduced in August 2010, is charged at £140.00 per Instrument, per pupil. Parents have the option to pay this in 1 Instalment or 4 Termly Instalments.
The Schools Service currently employs 20 people to deliver Instrumental Instruction in its schools.
We provide instruction in 22 different instruments plus voice. These are:
Accordion, Alto Sax, Bassoon, Brass, Cello, Clarinet, Cornet, Double Bass, Drums, Fiddle, Flute, Horn, Keyboard, Mandolin, Oboe, Piano, Recorder, Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Violin.
