Relocation of the Anderson High School

Shetland Islands Council, at its meeting on 30 June 2010 authorised the Head of Schools to proceed to undertake the necessary Statutory Consultation on the Proposal to Relocate the Anderson High School with pupils, staff, parents and other interested parties affected by the proposal, as required by the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010.

The Statutory Consultation for the Proposal to Relocate the Anderson High School ran from Monday 30 August 2010 to Sunday 10 October 2010. The Schools Service has contacted anyone who made written representations during the consultation period and informed them about the report. The Consultation Report contains a record of the total number of written representations made during the consultation period, a summary of the written representations, a summary of the oral representations made at the public meeting.  It also contains the Schools Service’s response to the Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education Report and any written or oral representations it has received, together with a copy of the Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education Report and other relevant information.

Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education Report addresses educational aspects of the proposal, it is informed by the proposal paper and relevant documentation produced for the Statutory Consultation.  Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education also attended the public meetings and met with staff, pupils and parents.  The report was made available to the Schools Service three weeks after the end of the Statutory Consultation.  The issues raised in Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education Report are addressed by the Schools Service in the Consultation Report.

The Consultation Report is available here on the web site and copies are available for inspection (free of charge), at Hayfield House, the Anderson High School and Lerwick Library

The Schools Service has also published copies of written responses received and the transcripts of the public meetings and staff meetings.
