Election Timetable

  • Notice of election: to be published not earlier than 22 March 2007
  • Notice of election: to be published not later than 2 April 2007
  • Delivery of nomination papers: not later than 4pm on any day after the date of publication of the notice of election
  • Last day for delivery of certificate issued by or on behalf of the Nominating Officer of a registered political party: not later than 4pm on 11 April 2007
  • Last day to make a request for an emblem to be printed on the ballot paper: not later than 4pm on 11 April 2007
  • Last day for delivery of nomination papers: not later than 4pm on 11 April 2007
  • Last day for withdrawals of nominations: not later than 4pm on 11 April 2007
  • Making of objections to nomination papers (Scottish Parliamentary election only): between 10am and 4pm (or exceptionally between 10am and 5pm) on 11 April 2007
  • Last day for notice of appointment of individual candidates' election agents: not later than 4pm on 11 April 2007
  • Publish statement of persons, parties and individual candidates nominated (if no objections made) including notice of poll and list of polling stations (Scottish Parliamentary election): at 4pm on 11 April 2007
  • Publish statements of persons, parties and individual candidates nominated (if objections made) including notice of poll and list of polling stations (Scottish Parliamentary election): no later than 4pm on 12 April 2007
  • Deadline for applications to be included on the register of electors to be used at the election 18 April 2007
  • Last day for requests to change or cancel an existing postal vote or proxy appointment: not later than 5pm on 18 April 2007
  • Last day for new applications to vote by post: not later than 5pm on 18 April 2007
  • Last day for new applications to vote by proxy (not postal proxy), except for medical emergencies: not later than 5pm on 25 April 2007
  • Last day to make alterations to the register of electors except where they are to correct a clerical error or to implement a court (registration appeal) decision 26 April 2007
  • Last day for notice of appointment of counting agents and polling agents: not later than 26 April 2007
  • Last day for publication of notice in case of uncontested election and notice of poll in contested election (local government election): not later than 26 April 2007
  • First day to issue ballot papers in response to requests to replace lost postal ballot papers 30 April 2007
  • Last day to issue replacement spoilt or lost postal ballot papers: not later than 5pm on 3 May 2007
  • Last day for new applications to vote by proxy on grounds of a medical emergency: not later than 5pm on 3 May 2007
  • Last day to make alterations to the register of electors to correct a clerical error or to implement a court (registration appeal) decision: not later than 9pm on 3 May 2007
  • Polling day (7am to 10pm) 3 May 2007
  • Verification of ballot paper accounts and counting of votes: commencing as soon as practicable after 10pm on 3 May 2007
  • Last day for the receipt of return of election expenses within 35 days after the day on which the result of the election is declared (assuming declaration of the result after midnight on polling day) 8 June 2007
