Revised Home Slaughter of Livestock guidance
"Home Slaughter of Livestock - a guide to the law in Scotland" now replaces previous "Private slaughter of livestock guidance" published in March 2007.
The guide has been re-written to reflect changes to the legislation, particularly as regards BSE testing and to reflect the European Commission's views on the application of the TSE controls to home slaughter. We have also tried to clarify the text throughout the guide, explaining that, except in certain limited circumstances, home slaughter of livestock is illegal.
The revised guidance is available on the below link: (this is an external link)
