Reserve Fund Property Grants
In recognition of the increased cost of carrying out works to properties in Shetland this local grant scheme was established.
Grant aid is available in respect of any works to rectify a defect or where the works are structural in nature.
This grant is not subject to a test of resources and is a set level of 50% up to a maximum expense limit of £4,500 and maximum grant of £2,250.
The full grant is only available once per property.
There is a long waiting list for this grant.
The main conditions are that:
- The house must be the occupant's only or main residence
- The applicant/owner must be a natural person
- The grant is only available where other grant aid does not amount to 50% of the cost of the works.
