I am Director of Public Health for NHS Shetland. I moved to Shetland to take up this role in 2000, having previously worked for 10 years as Consultant in Public Health in Birmingham.
Throughout my professional career I have had an interest in tackling inequalities, and have done work with particular disadvantaged groups including a special interest in health and homelessness whilst working in inner city Birmingham, developing one of the first specialist health services for the Travelling community in the West Midlands, and more recently, work on remote and rural inequalities in Shetland and the north of Scotland.
