POOL FEED PLAYOUT – SHOT DETAILS
The Opening Ceremony was held in Lerwick at the Clickimin Leisure Complex. Heavy rain failed to dampen the spirits of the athletes and the crowd which had gathered to enjoy their evening. A parade of all the competing Islands took place then a representative of each poured water brought from their own Islands as a symbolic gesture to start the games. Scotland’s First Minister, Jack McConnell officially opened the games and looked forward to an exciting week of sport.

The table tennis team event got underway at the Sandwick Junior High School which is located in the south of the mainland. The men and women’s singles event starts on Tuesday with twelve of the Islands competing.

The competitors for the Clay Target Shooting were out early today for a practice session at the black gaet range. Competition for real starts on Monday along with the air gun discipline.

Anderson High School is the venue for the badminton. The team event today and Monday with the singles and doubles starting on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The bowls event is taking place at the Clickimin Leisure Complex in Lerwick where there are nine competing Islands including both Shetland and the Orkney Islands.

The squash is also at the Clickimin Complex. One unique feature for the venue is that the two internal walls are moveable enabling the arena to provide a full doubles court.

Our featured game today in the volleyball took place between Hitra and Jersey. Jersey took a two set lead before Hitra won the third to make it 2-1. Jersey came back in the Forsyth to win the match.
