POOL FEED PLAYOUT – SHOT DETAILS
Women’s Javelin
The Women’s javelin was a keenly fought contest, the Isle of Wight’s Helen Davis came in second with a throw of 40.01metres.
But the event will be remembered for Shetland’s first athletics gold going to 16 year old Emma Gray. She was suitably delighted.

Men’s High Jump
In the high jump Simon Phelan of Jersey pushed his great rival all the way but games record holder Martin Aram of the Isle of Man took the gold with a jump of 2.10m. He failed to beat his own record of 2.13 but was delighted nonetheless.

Men’s 3,000m Steeplechase
In the men’s 3,000m steeplechase, Lee Garland of Guernsey was the run away winner with a time of 9minutes 24seconds and 44. He came in 6seconds ahead of his nearest rival.

Men’s Shot Putt
The men’s shot putt was as noisy as expected. Nine different Islands took part. Gotland’s Erik Larsson was the winner with a personal best of 15metres and 49.

Men’s 10,000 metres
In the most exciting race of the day Gibraltar’s Michael Sanchez and Kim Godtfredsen of Greenland ended the race with a sprint finish. Sanchez prevailed in a time of 30minutes 59.87seconds

Badminton
In the sports hall, the badminton began. Local brothers Graham and Gordon Keith gave the crowd something to shout about when winning their match in the tie against Guernsey but the host island went down 3 – 2 overall.

Cycling
The cycling time trials took place on Sunday in the Tingwall Valley. In the men’s time trial Carlos Rise of Shetland took silver.

Football
In the football, Guernsey beat Orkney by 3 – 1 at Cunningsburgh. The goals came from Dominic Heaume, Neil Clegg and Joby Bourgaize in the 90 th minute.
At Gilbertson Park, Shetland had a winning start in front of a partisan home crowd, beating the Faroe Islands by 4 – 0. John Montgomery opened the scoring with a penalty after 36minutes with further goals from Duncan Bray, Stuart Hay and Leighton Flaws.

Archery
The Archery began on Monday in Lerwick with the men’s 60m and 90m events. Around eighty archers from eleven Islands are participating.

Clay Pigeon Shooting
The clay pigeon began at the brand new facility at Black Gaet located between Lerwick and Scalloway. The range was completed in spring of this year. Sixteen Islands competed.
