Islesburgh House was built in 1907 for Andrew Smith, owner of one of the largest companies to profit from the herring boom. After being in use for many years as a youth hostel and meeting place the building has been beautifully restored and refurbished in the 1990s.
Islesburgh House Hostel offers superb quality visitor accommodation at budget prices. Two floors are fully accessible for disabled users and the hostel offers comfortable two or four person bedroom accommodation, or group dormitories. Exclusive en-suite rooms may be available.
The Hostel has 64 bed spaces and is centrally located in Lerwick. The Hostel is open to individuals, families and groups of hostellers.
Islesburgh House Hostel has received a number of prestigious awards.

How to find us
Islesburgh House Hostel is located in the centre of Lerwick, no more than a 10-15 minute walk from the ferry terminal and on the main bus route for the main airport for Shetland, at Sumburgh.
If you are arriving by ferry the Hostel is no more than a 10/15 minute walk from the ferry terminal. Turn left when leaving the ferry terminal and follow the road to King Harald Street, passing through two mini-roundabouts on the way. Turn right and walk up King Harald Street and you'll find us on the right hand side, opposite the public parks. In the summer season look out for the Shetland flag outside our building.

|CHECK-IN TIMES; 0900 - 0930, 1600 - 1630, 2145 - 2215. Outwith these times, between 0900 and 2100 you may check in by contacting Reception in the Islesburgh Community Centre, across the road.|
Hostel opening hours are from 8.00am to 11.45pm daily, seven days a week. The Hostel will be closed from Mon 23rd December 2013 to Thurs 2nd January 2014, inclusive.
|Groups can also stay in the hostel outwith the season by prior arrangement.|
|The Hostel has a total of 64 beds in dormitories and rooms ranging in size from a 2 person to a 12 person dormitory. Some rooms are available for exclusive use.|
|The ground and first floors of the hostel are fully accessible and very well equipped to cater for disabled users.|
|Washing and drying machines are available in the hostel laundry. Washing powder is available to purchase from the Warden.|

All prices per person, per night - in GBP.
Prices are for bed only (including linen). The minimum deposit required at the time of booking is equivalent charge to one night's stay. This sum is refundable if at least 24 hours notice of cancellation is given. If less than 24 hours notice of cancellation is made, then this sum is non-refundable.
The Hostel is closed between Mon 23rd December 2013 to Thurs 2nd January 2014 (inclusive).
Early booking is advised during the popular festivals of Up Helly Aa (last Tuesday in January), the Shetland Folk Festival (late April/early May) and the Shetland Accordion & Fiddle Festival (October).
