local councillor handbook
Council Convener Malcolm Bell said: “As highlighted in our Constitution, ‘the quality of elected political leadership is core to the effective governance of communities. Society needs to have people who are able, willing and prepared to take decisions on its behalf about matters which affect the lives of citizens and who are prepared to be accountable for these’.
“I welcome the publication of this new handbook, designed to encourage people thinking about standing for the local government elections, to put themselves forward.
“I’m also grateful for the assistance from our Leader and the four other councillors who have helped in its production and in encouraging candidature.”
