What to do if you are concerned about someone's safety
If you are worried about the safety of a child, or if you think someone is being abused or neglected, please contact us. You can phone 01595 744400 or email social.work@shetland.gov.uk. Or you can visit:

Help for carers
If you spend a lot of time looking after a friend, relative or neighbour and need help, we can help you. For example, we can:
- Let you know about welfare benefits – money for you and the person you look after;
- Arrange respite care – breaks for you during the day and/or overnight;
- Help you with equipment or adaptations to your house to make caring easier;
- Give you advice about other types of care, for example in residential homes.
