ASN Pop-up charity shop does a roaring trade on its first day
A pop-up charity shop in Lerwick, organised to help fund activities for pupils with severe and complex needs at the Anderson High School, has raised over £700 on its first day.
The shop, at the former premises of ‘Ninian’ on Commercial Street, is staffed by pupils and staff from the AHS ASN Department. For several years now, the department has organised an annual trip to the Badaguish outdoor activities centre near Aviemore; funds raised from the shop will help pay for that, and to buy equipment for the department.
ASN teacher Janette Morrison says the support from the public has been tremendous: “People were queueing at the door on Monday morning, and we've been overwhelmed by everyone's interest and generosity. It's a great work experience opportunity for our pupils, and we’re really enjoying the week so far.”
