Press Release

Celebrating 10 years at the Bruce

The Bruce Family Centre in Lerwick.

The Bruce Family Centre is celebrating its tenth year providing family support services in Shetland. The centre is holding an open afternoon on Saturday 5 November between 14.00 and 16.00 where individuals and families can come along and learn about the services on offer.

The centre runs several programmes throughout Shetland to help families build better relationships. These range from individual and group sessions for parents, outreach support for vulnerable families and Playvan visits to parent and toddler groups.

Family Services Manager Eleanor Robertson wants to encourage as many people as possible to come along on Saturday. There will be a playroom and games for older children, as well as tea and coffee for parents.

“This is an opportunity for folk who maybe haven’t been to the centre before to have a look around at the facilities and to have a chat about the kind of services we can offer”, said Mrs Robertson.

“Over the past ten years, we have been able to help hundreds of families throughout Shetland and have built up a wealth of experience. It is amazing how much confidence and peace of mind parents can gain through talking to others about their experiences and sharing tips and stories.

“Come along on Saturday and see how we can help your family”.
