Press Release
Less than two weeks left to have your say on 190 proposed development sites

At the beginning of June, the Planning Service asked the public for feedback on 190 proposed development sites from all over Shetland. The sites were submitted by landowners, developers and the public as areas for possible future development, either for housing, employment, retail or community use.
The closing date for feedback on these sites is Monday 15 August.
A folder containing maps and information sheets on all of the submitted sites is still available for the public to view and comment on in all Leisure Centres, the Shetland Library and at Infrastructure Services reception at Grantfield in Lerwick. This is also available online at www.planshetland.org.
Members of the public can comment on each site by using the paper forms available in the folders and returning them to the free post address. The forms are also available online at www.planshetland.org.
Head of Planning Iain McDiarmid said “We haven’t made any decisions about the suitability of these sites yet. However, we are keen to let everybody see where the sites are, and to get feedback from local communities.
“If a site is shown to be suitable it will be included in the next round of consultation for the Shetland Local Development Plan”.
