Students sport their trainers at Anderson High
Young Scot Youth Legacy Ambassadors for Shetland Kristoffer Thomason and Lauren Odie encouraged their fellow students at the Anderson High School to wear their trainers on Commonwealth day, 12 March. Shetland MSP Tavish Scott, Shetland Youth Voice and Nicole Mouat MSYP were also in attendance to show their support.
Sport Your Trainers is a national campaign to encourage everyone across Scotland to wear their trainers to promote the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The Youth Legacy Ambassadors role is to inspire and engage young people in Scotland to get the most out of hosting the Commonwealth Games and promote the legacy themes: Active, Connected, Sustainable and Flourishing.
Tavish Scott MSP said:
"Shetland’s Young Legacy Ambassadors have a great opportunity to promote why sport, active lifestyles and the Commonwealth Games are good things to be involved in. This week’s event at the Anderson High School showed the interest in what Shetland can gain out of the Games from both young people and teachers. Kristoffer and Lauren will be great advocates for Shetland both at home and wider afield."
