Population and Migration Study

Shetland Islands Council, HIE Shetland, NHS Shetland, Communities Scotland and Shetland Economic Development Trust have engaged consultants Hall Aitken to carry out research into living in the Shetland Islands and why people move into, within, or away from, the Islands. The results of the research will provide projections of future population levels and structure, and discuss the issues and options around making sure we have a healthy, balanced and viable population going forward over the next decades.

The research is the first of its kind and will inform future decisions on policies and service development, and provide evidence and strategies tostrengthenourcommunity.Your views are extremely important for this research. We would be appreciate if you would take five or so minutes to complete our survey. Please follow the link below to fill out the survey which will automatically skip any questions that are not relevant to your situation.

We are very keen to get as many people who live, or have lived, in Shetland to take part in the research. Therefore everyone is being asked to send this link onto a friend or relation who they think might be willing to take part.

The link to the survey will also be available on the Shetland Islands Council websites, Shetland based media sites and other key sites with a Shetland interest.

If you know someone who does not have e-mail but might like to write to us about this research, they can also do so for free. They can call Laura Murphy at Hall Aitken on freephone 08000 43 62 50, leaving their name, address and telephone number. We will then send them a reply paid envelope and an information sheet outlining the areas and topics we are looking at.

Ends..
