Wifi signals just got better at the Library
Wifi signals at the Shetland library and community libraries just got a boost, thanks to new equipment funded by the Scottish Libraries Information Council. Four new wireless access points have been installed to improve coverage both inside and out.
Coverage at the main library in Lerwick now reaches the outdoor seated areas in the grounds and also some adjacent street parking spaces. Signals are also better around the Baltasound School and Community Library in Unst, and extend into the foyer and grounds of the Mid Yell School and the new Yell Community Library.
Systems Officer, David Thomson, said: “We’ve put stronger and more reliable wifi into all areas of our public libraries and by reaching outside the buildings we’ve made the libraries just a little bit bigger. We have good coverage in the community library in Unst and in the newest community library in the Mid Yell school. It’s an important step forward, as more and more library and other public services are going online. And while we provide computers at most sites, a lot of folk prefer to use their own equipment and get access when the libraries are closed”.
Ends.
