Young Mums' Christmas fundraiser draws the crowds

Stall holders and guests at Sandveien Neighbourhood centre

The Young Mums Group and Sound Parent and Toddler held a joint fundraiser on Sunday 4th December at Sandveien Neighbourhood Centre.  The fundraiser was a Christmas fayre with many local stallholders coming out to sell Christmas goodies.  Both groups participated by serving Sunday teas to the members of the public.  There was also a children’s play area set up with toys from Islesburgh complex, the Bruce Family Centre Play Van, face painting, dance mats, circus acts and icing cakes with Trish Reid.

Carol Massey, the Council's Youth Worker who supports the Young Mums Group said “The day was a great success with over 100 people coming along to the day.  There was a really good atmosphere in the hall and the combination of children’s activities as well as stalls and Sunday teas provided something for everyone that attended.”

One of the young mums had chosen the charity ‘Smile Train’ to donate the raffle proceeds too, which totalled £105.  They hope to have a similar event next year and like to thank everyone who helped make the day possible.

Chairperson of the Young Mums Group, Nicole Watt said “The fundraiser was a huge success on Sunday I am proud to be a member in such a great community where people come together to show their support. I liked how there was such a huge variety of different stalls and activities for all ages.”
