Council Appoints Head of Social Work
Following an interview on Tuesday 29th June a panel comprising of Elected Members, NHS Shetland, and the Director of Community Services appointed Fiona Waddington as Head of Social Work.
Fiona is currently working for Practice Learning Taskforce in England. Previously she held the post of Head of Service for Family Support and Permanence at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. She has extensive practical fieldwork experience and has over the last 14 years progressed from Field Childcare Social Worker to Practice Manager and then Depute District Manager - Children and Families with Lancashire County Council.
Councillor Florence Grains a member of the selection panel said 'this is an important appointment of a high calibre candidate; Fiona brings with her a wide range of practical and managerial experience. Her experience of inter agency working at national level will enhance and complement the work we are doing to improve and integrate our Children and Families Services'.
Fiona is likely to take up her appointment in November.
