Information from the Council
The Council is currently involved in providing everyone in Shetland with information about the way it has performed over the last year. This is part of a drive from the Scottish Executive to ensure that all local authorities are informing the public about the services they provide.
On Friday the 1 st of October the Shetland Times newspaper will contain a booklet summarising how services provided by the Council performed for Shetland and the people of Shetland last financial year, 2003-2004. Information is provided on what you can expect from each of these services; how each has worked to improve the quality and efficiency of that service during the last year and examples of performance, compared with previous years.
More detailed information about the Council's performance can be found on the Internet or in public places, such as your local school, library or leisure centre. This information is the Council's statutory Performance Indicators for 2003-04, which provides standards of performance achieved by the Council compared to 2002-03 covering areas such as cost of administering certain services to standards of education and environmental health provision.
All publications are available in large print and tape, and can be translated on request. Further copies can be requested or downloaded from the Council's website: www.shetland.gov.uk. For further information please contact the Policy Unit: policy@sic.shetland.gov.uk or by phoning 01595 744537.
