YouthBank for Shetland!
After much hard work and discussion with youth Bank UK Advisory Board, Shetland Islands Council have been awarded their license to operate as a YouthBank!!
Shetland YouthBank will be part of the existing youth representative body - YOUTHVOICE - who will act as the YouthBank Committee. YOUTH VOICE have decided on how it will run. They will be involved in publicising and encouraging applications, and will meet to review applications twice a year.
Young People will be allowed to submit applications for projects which will benefit their community. The YouthBank Committee will make decisions on what can be funded.
The YouthBank has been set up to meet particular needs of the area, which include isolation in rural communities and groups that can't get funding elsewhere.
The YBUK Advisory Board are very excited about having a YouthBank operating on the island(s) and are keen to learn what it's like for young people to live in this kind of community.
