Squadron Leader Philip Weatherhead MBE

Councillor Jim Irvine, Chair of the Infrastructure Committee, today presented an inscribed Council plaque to Squadron Leader (retd) Philip Weatherhead MBE during his last visit to Shetland before retiring from the position of Assistant Secretary of the Highland Reserve Forces and Cadets.

Squadron Leader Weatherhead has been involved with the Reserve Forces and Cadets in Shetland for 15 years.  He has worked tirelessly to maintain the inside of Fort Charlotte to a high standard in order that both the TA and the Army Cadets have suitable accommodation in which to meet and train.

Councillor Irvine, who is the SIC representative on the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association, said "I have been very impressed by the work Squadron Leader Weatherhead has done for the reserve forces in Shetland and I wish him well in his retirement.  I am looking forward to working with his successor, Lt Col Bob Towns MBE,  a former Queens Own Highlander, who I am sure will continue the good work in support of the local forces."
