Fetlar Ferry Terminal Wins EU Aid
Shetland Islands Council has been awarded a grant of £743,606 from the European Regional Development Fund towards the construction costs of Fetlar's new ro-ro ferry terminal.
The project was approved following a recent review of the Highlands and Islands European funding programme.
The Council's European spokesperson, Councillor Leslie Angus said: "I am delighted that the programme management committee has recognised the need for assistance with the high cost of building vital infrastructure for a remote, peripheral island.
"The programme management committee will be considering further capital projects from Shetland before the current funding programme ends in 2006."
