Nursery Children in Fair Isle Get Excellent Quality Education
The recent inspection of Fair Isle Primary School's nursery class was positively glowing, with each area of the standard scoring the highest level of commendation from HM Inspectorate of Education.
The following areas were highlighted as being key strengths:
- The very good staff/child interaction
- The very good programmes in each of the five key aspects which were effectively supporting the children's learning
- The very positive relationships with parents and the local community
- The very effective procedures for transition between nursery and P1
- The very knowledgeable and dedicated nursery teacher and the effective leadership of the Head Teacher
The children participated in a wide range of art techniques, including painting, gluing junk modelling, finger painting and collage. They enjoyed using natural materials from the local environment to create a woven tapestry. They also made effective use of the local environment to develop skills of observation, investigation and simple problem solving. They enjoyed planting and observing the abundant wildlife that Fair Isle has to offer.
A good pre-school experience lays the foundations for learning for life. Fair Isle School is delighted to have its work recognised in this way.
