Integrated Management of Care Homes
Following decisions made by the Council and Shetland Charitable Trust in December 2004, work has started on the transfer of staff from Shetland Welfare Trust to the Council. The transfers will take place from 1 April 2005 and TUPE regulations will apply.
A Project Board has been set up by the Council to manage this process. Jacqui Watt, Executive Director of Community Services, leads the Project Board and the Project Manager is Christine Ferguson, Community Care Manager for the Council and NHS Shetland.
In response to a suggestion made by a family carer, an independent monitoring group is being formed to oversee the work. The group will include representatives from Shetland Welfare Trust Trustees and SIC elected members; employee representatives from both Shetland Welfare Trust and the Council and two service user/carer representatives. This group will have access to all project documentation and will raise issues and concerns from staff; service users and carers as the changes in management arrangements are made.
The Project Initiation Document, which sets out how the work will be done, is available on request. If you would like a copy of any further information please contact
