Dunrossness Primary School Nursery Class was inspected in April 2005 as part of the integrated inspection programme by the Care Commission and HM Inspectorate of Education. The report identifies strengths in the environment for learning, the quality of children's experience and the support provided for children and families.
The key strengths identified were:
- The bright spacious and welcoming environment
- The good range of resources available to the children
- The confident children
Programmes in key aspects of children's development and learning were evaluated as good. The inspection team also noted the support provided by staff for the children and their families, and the effective support in place for children with additional support needs.
As well as this, they identified the positive impact the new head teacher had already had on the nursery after being in post for only two months at the time of the inspection.
the school has been asked to prepare an action plan taking forward specific recommendations in the report and to share the plan with parents and carers. The management team have already planned for these developments as all feature as priorities in the School Development Plan for the session 2005-06.
