Information on Shetland Islands Council Performance - 2004-05

The Council is committed to effectively informing the public about performance in its delivery of the wide range of important services it provides in Shetland.  This is an ongoing activity across all services, but to help give an overview, we are adopting some new approaches which includes the following information:

  1. Statutory Performance Indicator - These are detailed indicators which show how the Council has performed in the financial year to 31st March 2005.  As it is a legal requirement for all Local Authorities in Scotland to produce these, they also allow you to see how the Council compares with other Councils.  You can get a copy of the report through the Council's Intranet site.  The address is http://www.shetland.gov.uk/performance/documents.asp.  Alternatively you can get a paper copy of large print/tape/translated version by phoning us at the Policy Unit on 01595 744537 or by e-mailing policy@sic.shetland.gov.uk.
  2. Annual Accounts - This year we are also going to include the Statutory Performance Indicators and other performance information from Service Plans as part of a more detailed document integrated with the publication of our Annual Accounts.  The document will be available in the Shetland Library for you to consult from 31st October.
  3. Public Performance Report - We also produce a general performance report.  Last year we sent the report out as an insert in the Shetland Times.  However, this year we have decided to produce the report in the format of a Council Calendar.  This will be sent out to all households in Shetland during the first week of December.

We would be interested to hear any feedback you may have on any of these documents.  If you have any comments, please contact us at the Policy Unit on the above telephone number.
