Share views on love and literature at the library
As Valentine’s Day approaches, Shetland Library would like readers to recommend their favourite love story.
It doesn’t have to be a book: it can be a short story, a play, a poem, a TV programme, a song – any form of love story, just as long as you can express what’s great about it in 40 words or less. Suggestions will be included in the ‘Love in the Library’ display at the library, and the best ones will be made into bookmarks and published on the library’s website at www.shetland-library.gov.uk. You can pick up a suggestion form at the library.
Also showcased at the library this month is The Big Gay Read, a national campaign to find the nation’s favourite lesbian or gay book. Similar to the BBC Big Read of a couple of years ago, readers are invited to vote for their favourite of a shortlist of books. Readers can browse the display of Big Gay Read books at the library, and vote online at www.biggayread.com.
