Integrated Inspection of Education and Care in Whiteness and Weisdale Playgroup
In a recent Inspection by HMIe, Whiteness and Weisdale Playgroup demonstrated that they create a warm and welcoming environment for children and families, work effectively with support agencies and provide a very good transition programme from the playgroup to the nursery class.
Recommendations from the previous Inspection had been addressed, even though they are operating temporarily in the Primary School while the Community Hall is being refurbished.
Most of the programmes supporting children’s development were good. These included:
- Emotional, personal and social development
- Communication and Language
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical development
The programme for Aesthetic and Expressive development was fair.
Support for children and families was good. The playgroup was managed by effective teamwork between the playgroup staff and the voluntary committee of parents.
The playgroup are now working to address areas recommended for improvement including planning, assessment and recording, supporting and challenging children, and the Expressive and aesthetic programme.
The Education Service congratulates the playgroup’s voluntary committee and staff on achieving such a positive report.
Ends.
