Scottish Rural Development Contracts update

The Scottish Government is in the process of rolling out the Rural Development Contract – Rural Priorities (RDC-RP) element of the new Scotland Rural Development Programme (SRDP). The application process for RDC-RP is twofold, with a first submission of a Statement of Intent being followed by a full RDC-RP proposal in due course. The Statement of Intent element became available online on 7th April, and it is anticipated that the online RDC-RP proposals system will be available from 19th May 2008 onwards.

In the meantime, the full details of the Rural Priorities as they relate to Shetland continue to be added, although sufficient is now known for it to be prudent to hold an interim public meeting. This meeting is aimed at individuals or organisations that intend to submit early applications for Rural Development Contracts. A roadshow of 6 further meetings throughout Shetland will be organised in the next few weeks once the full details of the RDC-RP are clearer.

The interim public meeting will be held on Thursday 17th April at 7pm in the auditorium at the Shetland Museum and Archives, and will be hosted by representatives of the local Scottish Agricultural College and Shetland Crofting and Farming Wildlife Advisory Group (SCFWAG).
