We propose to site the new abattoir at Staney Hill, Lerwick and have done the initial research to establish the site plans and types of equipment that would be required for the facility.
We encourage anyone with comments to view the location and site plans and equipment lists which are available on the Council’s main website at www.shetland.gov.uk in the current consultation section and also available for viewing on the Shetland Development Trust site at www.sdt.shetland.org.
The consultation period is from now until the 30 March 2007 and should give everyone enough time to view and give written comments, which should be addressed to Douglas Irvine, Shetland Islands Council Economic Development Unit, 6 North Ness Business Park, Lerwick, Shetland, ZE1 OLZ.
Mr Irvine also added that the project team hopes that following consultation and formally agreed plans that the facility will be ready for use in August 2008.”
