Key Information Roadshow for Rural Development Contract Funding Process

The SAC (Scottish Agricultural College) along with the Shetland Crofting Farming and Wildlife Group (SCFWAG) and Shetland Islands Council, Economic Development Unit have organised a series of five meetings throughout Shetland to help explain the application process for the Scottish Rural Development Programme: Rural Development Contracts. The meetings will focus on the biodiversity aspects of the scheme and how it replaces and/or complements Environmentally Sensitive Areas and Rural Stewardship Scheme type plans. Depending on demand more meetings may be organised later in the summer:

Brae School - Wednesday 4th June at 7 p.m.

Boddam Hall - Thursday 5th June at 7 p.m.

Aith School - Monday 9th June at 7 p.m.

Sellafirth Industrial Building, Yell – Tuesday 10th June at 6 p.m.

Tingwall School – Wednesday 11th June at 7 p.m.

These meetings will focus on how to prepare and submit a Statement of Intent (SoI), which is the first step in the application process. Although not currently available from the Scottish Government, we also hope by then to have details of what goes into an Outcome Plan, which is the second and final stage of an application. Anyone who is interested in applying for a Rural Development Contract and wishes to learn more about the various options should attend one of the above meetings.
