Shetland Hamefarin 2010

Shetland has taken the first steps to organise a 50th anniversary Hamefarin for people all over the world with Shetland connections. A committee chaired by Sandy Cluness, Shetland Islands Council’s Convener, will meet later in the summer to begin planning the event. It is likely that Hamefarin 2010 will be a fortnight long celebration, running from 13th to 27th June 2010 to coincide with the Johnsmas Foy in the middle weekend. Visitors can expect to enjoy the best of Shetland music, arts, crafts and food during their stay, as they reconnect with their Shetland roots.
A special effort is being made to give everyone who has ever lived in Shetland the opportunity to participate in Hamefarin 2010. For the many people who have come and gone over the years – now is your chance to return for a celebration of Shetland culture in Hamefarin 2010.
